Newsletter preview · Published

Learning across borders

A week of ideas, shared experiences and new connections.

From 24 to 30 September 2026, seven SURCOD delegates joined the Co-Creating Green Safe Spaces (CGSS) Youth Exchange in Zimbabwe. Participants from Malawi, Zimbabwe, Denmark and Spain explored sustainability, inclusion and meaningful youth participation.

Our first Youth Exchange Newsletter brings these themes together under Green Spaces, Safe Spaces. Here is a preview of the issue and the conversations at its heart.

Inside this issue

Our youth exchange journey

Young people from Malawi, Zimbabwe, Denmark and Spain came together to share experiences and explore how green safe spaces can support their communities.

Green spaces, safe spaces

Farm and community garden visits connected sustainable food growing with ideas for welcoming spaces, peer support and shared responsibility.

Youth voices & Parliament

A visit to Zimbabwe’s Parliament, a mock parliamentary debate and a youth participation panel explored how young people can help shape decisions that affect them.

Learning, friendship & collaboration

Workshops, cultural evenings and shared reflections created opportunities to listen, learn together and build connections across countries.
